Paediatric Dentistry

One of the greatest joys of treating patients in Hornsby is watching the families grow. We welcome parents to bring their children to our clinic to help them develop a healthy attitude toward dentistry and establish a good foundation for their smiles.

Early Childhood Dental Visits

We welcome children as young as age two – or even earlier if parents wish. By bringing your child to the surgery, they will grow accustomed to the sights and sounds of the dental clinic and become familiar with our team.

We will take your little one for a ride in the dental chair, show them the toothbrush, and take a look to make sure they are developing properly. This is also an excellent opportunity for parents to ask questions, discuss habits such as thumb sucking and bottle use, and request nutritional advice.

Preventive Dentistry for Children

Primary (baby) teeth are important as they provide a blueprint for permanent teeth and help maintain space within the mouth for secondary teeth to develop properly. Caring for them from the time they emerge is an essential part of the comprehensive dentistry we provide for both kids and adults.

We also offer many preventive treatment options beyond dental cleans and check-ups.

  • Fluoride treatments
  • Fissure sealants
  • Sports mouth guards

Every child is different, and we embrace what makes them each unique. Ben and Clint will discuss ways to take care of your child’s teeth at home and whether he or she may benefit from additional preventive care.

Dental Cleanings and Exams

As your child grows, we will implement dental cleanings and exams to ensure that your child’s precious smile stays healthy and happy.

Ben and Clint are both gentle and experienced when it comes to working with kids. They make appointments interactive and fun by celebrating your child’s curious nature. Your little one will learn how to brush their own teeth, though they will likely need a little help until they are around age nine when their dexterity is more fully developed.

Dental Decay – Prevention and Treatment

One of the most common preventable childhood illnesses is dental decay. Decay, or a cavity, occurs when bacteria develop and create an acidic environment that softens enamel.

If your child develops decay, we will treat it with the same care and compassion we want for our own families. We never use language that will alarm your child or make them feel anxious. We also use the latest methods to apply anaesthetic to ensure your child’s comfort.
