You might believe that a perfect smile is beyond your reach, especially if your teeth have suffered damage due to lack of care, a bruxism habit or a sporting or auto accident. At Dr Ben Dunster’s dental clinic, located in Hornsby, Dr Ben and Dr Clint offer a solution that can allow patients to have the smile of their dreams.
Porcelain veneers make it possible to correct many aesthetic flaws in one procedure. The result is both stunning and natural looking, so there is no need to feel concern over a false or fake-looking smile.

What Are Veneers?
Composite veneers are made of the same material we use for tooth-coloured fillings. Similar to bonding, composite veneers bond to the existing tooth structure to change the shape or colour of the tooth. Unlike porcelain, the composite has a more opaque appearance and may be suitable for covering internal staining. Unlike porcelain veneers, composites are made right here in our clinic.
Porcelain veneers closely resemble thin shells that cover the front of natural teeth. The veneers will cover flaws such as chips, gaps, minor misalignment and non-uniform looking teeth.
You can have as few as a single veneer or up to 8 to 10 veneers, depending on your goals for your smile.
Each veneer is a tiny work of art designed to complement your smile. When designing your new look, we will take into account your gender, facial structure, bite and skin tone so that your new teeth look like you were born with them – only better.
The Porcelain Veneer Procedure
To determine if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers, we will perform a full evaluation, including ruling out any conditions such as decay or periodontal disease. We will also evaluate your bite and jaw function to ensure comfortable speaking and chewing.
Next, we will discuss your goals for your smile and determine the size, shape and shading of your veneers. We will then prepare your teeth by polishing away some of the enamel to make space for your restorations and avoid a bulky appearance. We will cover your teeth with temporary veneers while our dental lab creates your final restorations. Once the laboratory returns your veneers, we will cement them to your teeth and make any final adjustments for a perfect fit.
Caring for Veneers
As with your natural teeth, good oral hygiene is essential. Brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups and cleans will help you extend the life of your dentistry and your oral health.
If you grind your teeth during sleep, we may also recommend a night guard to protect your veneers from chips or from detaching.
